Extreme changes – extreme costs. Climate risk in the municipalities.

Extreme changes – extreme costs
Climate risk in municipalities

Climate is becoming a financial risk, also for Norwegian municipalities. More extreme weather, flooding and surface water are among the climate risks the municipalities are faced with and that may threaten buildings and infrastructure. And as a consequence, investments in climate adaptation measures are needed. Local authorities’ ability to handle climate risk both in their day-to-day work and in long-term planning is important for the solutions that are selected and related costs. At this event we will showcase good examples of how municipalities have integrated climate adaptation in their work. We will also give a preview of a brand-new tool that will assist municipalities in identifying and working systematically with climate risk in their investment decisions. In a situation of increasing climate risk and tighter budgets, Kommunalbanken Norway wishes to contribute to providing the best basis for decisions when municipalities are making investments.
